Rose D Shaver

Rose D. Shaver (Babe), loving daughter, wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother, and aunt, passed away on Oct. 17, 2012 at home. Born June 30, 1932 in White Plains, NY., to the late Salvatore DeFonce Sr. & Sarah Marano DeFonce.

Her early years, she attended Parsons Memorial & Harrison Ave. Elementary schools. Moved to Harrison, NY., graduated from Harrison High School in 1950. She was a cheerleader in high school and would do her high school cheer well into her 70's. Later she worked as a secretary in New York City.

Also in New York she worked for the Nurses Association, and a nurses aide for Harrison High School and had just recently worked in sales at Andre's Swiss Bakery in Lauderdale-by-the sea in Florida.

She married Thomas R. Shaver Sr. (A navy veteran) on Sept. 12, 1953, who is deceased. Her children include, Kimberly Downing (Steven), Michele Modoux (Andre), Thomas R. Shaver, Jr., (Cindy), and Tammie McGraw. Grandchildren, Courtney Munoz (Ryan), Lindsey Sages, Neal Downing (Chungah), Marcel, Remy, Nico (Deceased) Modoux, Kristina, Jake DeShong, Gabby, Zoe McGraw. One Great-grandchild Lilyana Munoz. Nieces, Debbie Mazza (John), Shari DeFonce, Sabrina Bengel (Steve), Donna Straface. Brothers, Benjamin A. Defonce, and Salvatore DeFonce Jr., and Michael DeFonce (Deceased).

Babe loved meeting and talking to people, everyone loved her who met her. She never met a stranger and helped everyone. She had lived the last 20 years in Florida, and loved to play lotto, and crosswords puzzles.
