Born in Kingston, Ontario, on October 4, 1925, she was the beloved daughter of Rev. Lemuel Oscar Bunt and Alma Luella Beatrice Cowdy.
Betty was an inspiring and gifted school teacher, beginning her teaching career at Noranda Elementary in 1944 in Northwestern Quebec. She taught Grade Seven at Surrey Gardens and later at Dorval High School. She was also a choir leader at school and played the piano for school assemblies. She was a long-time member of the Montreal Lakeshore University Women’s Club. Betty was a gifted chorister at St. Andrew’s United Church, and with the Knight Singers. As a member of the Pointe-Claire Horticultural Society, she took great pride in her and Wayne’s beautiful garden at their home on Braebrook Avenue in Pointe-Claire. She was also a very accomplished weaver and member of the Pointe-Claire Weaver’s Guild.
Sincere thanks are extended to the attentive and loving staff at Sunrise Dollard-des-Ormeaux and especially to her caring friend, Evelyn, who was her advocate and mentor in all manner of ways as Betty’s dependency on others increased in her later years.
