I was very shocked and saddened to hear of Dave’s passing.  I have known him to always be smiling and  quite the joker.  Our paths crossed often when he lived in Île Perrot and my daughter went to the same High School as  his son.  My heartfelt condolences to Cathy and his boys.  Too young, too soon.

My father introduced me to Dave post-game at the Saint-Laurent arena.  He then showed up at Malcolm Campbell and our friendship began.  Although we lost touch years later, I recognized his voice in a local grocery store a few years ago and had the chance to reminisce about family and life.  So very sorry I will never hear that voice or see that brilliant smile again.  However, I know that he will forever smile down on his three sons with deep fatherly pride and on his siblings with brotherly love.  Rest in peace Dave.

This was in 1974, at my Sweet 16 party in Montreal.

I have such fond memories of David in high school. He was always so positive and upbeat, always friendly and welcoming. At that time , disco was all the rage, and David taught me some cool moves (and that's still how I dance today!). At a high school reunion a few years ago, we spent a few hours walking and talking together, and he shared how his life had changed and his success with his energy drink (which he brought to the reunion so everyone could sample). Despite some hardship, he was never bitter or sad and looked forward to the future. He was always a smiling face in our group. He will be sorely missed.

In 2023 I found an old letter that David had sent me in 1975 (the summer after grade 10). I shared it with him and we had a good laugh about it. Reading it now, I’m reminded that even then he was a sensitive and emotional person. A few years ago he made it to a high school reunion and it was wonderful to reconnect. I cannot fathom the enormity of your family’s sadness and grief. He was loved and admired throughout his life and that’s something we can all aspire to.

A memorable photo of Dave in our backyard, manning the barbecue during a heat wave during a wide spread power failure in Toronto 2003 during his visit along with Chad, Karl and Daniel.  The joking mischievous smile is true to Dave's beloved character as he insists that only he that day cook on the grill, so we'd enjoy his expertise.  That smile is how I'll always remember him, almost telling me he's not taking me seriously, even if he was.

David, a man with values, humour, respect, love and had gentle way about him … with a huge love for life! A good one gone into the heavens, now watching over the ones he knew and loved. To his family,  my deepest condolences, may he rest in peace, know that he’s always with you.

Coach Dave was our son's hockey coach for many years, his dedication to the sport, the kids successes and their well-being were exceptional as well as his number one priority.  His love for the kids, the sport and coaching was undeniable.  We will remember him as a supportive, persistent and determined human-being.  Our deepest condolences go out to his family and foremost to his wonderful sons Chad, Karl and Daniel and Kathy whom we don't see often enough but consider all a part our extended family. We send all of our love and support during this extremely difficult time.  May he rest in peace and join the heavenly hockey league and "play hard" because if there is one he will be there and if there isn't, he will surely initiate one! All of our affection, the Bergerons.
