Douglas Barclay Gibson, 67, passed away on July 4th after a long battle with cancer. He is survived by his loving wife and best friend, Jody (Ekins), his three daughters Erin (John Scott), Laura (Alex Chretien), and Megan (Sylvain Boudreault), as well as his grandchildren Maya, Adele, and Zack, as well as his sister Karen (Pierre Belanger).
To have met Doug is to know that there are not enough words to describe his charismatic personality. He was a natural leader and his sense of humour instantly made all feel welcome.
He had many interests. He excelled at baseball early on, he loved and taught skiiing and had a lifelong passion for fishing and golf. An avid traveller, he experienced many of his happiest moments while vacationing with his wife and family.
Doug graduated from Loyola College (B.Com) and McGill (CPA). His career started at Coopers and Lybrand, followed with executive positions at Montreal Trust, BCE Inc and Bell Canada, which led to starting his own company le groupe Cambium.
His love of family and community was evident. He coached his daughters in soccer and ringette. He was on the Board of Directors at the Lakeshore General Hospital Foundation and at the West Island Palliative Care Residence Foundation.
As a member of the Royal Montreal Golf Club he was instrumental in organizing Canadian Open tournaments, and the President’s Cup. He also served as club President and as Chairman of the long range committee.
A celebration of his life will be held July 14th, 2019 at the Royal Montreal Golf Club. A memorial will take place from 14:00-14:45 followed by a reception until 17:00.
