He was a cherished and loving husband to the late Jocelyne Perusse. Eddie is survived by his two sons, Erik (Kara) of Cream Ridge, NJ USA, and Joel (Annaël) of Montreal, QC, and six grandchildren (Colin, Chloe, Claire, Caroline, Nathaniel, and Eliot).
Born into a family of six children, Eddie was predeceased by his sister Tillie and brother Dick. He is survived by sisters Sylvia (Ed) and Diane (Max) and brother Ron (Mavis).
Eddie was born in Montreal and grew up in NDG, excelling in sports such as hockey and football. He was an all-star running back at West Hill High School. Eddie also played for several years with the NDG Maple Leafs junior football team.
His working years were largely spent at the Montreal Oral School For the Deaf, where he served as Director of Finance for both the school and the MOSD Foundation. In those capacities, his expertise and intuitive resourcefulness were considered invaluable assets by everyone he worked with. Eddie’s ability to approach his work with a helpful, light touch made everything run more smoothly.
Eddie was blessed with a great sense of humor, and at every family gathering, he was the primary source of entertainment. He was a fun-loving, kind, well-respected man and made a long-lasting impact with everyone he met with his positive outlook on life. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and everyone who knew him.
His children and grandchildren adored Eddie. He was a hero to his two sons with whom he had a beautiful friendship. He was always there for a good laugh and a supportive word of advice. Both Erik and Joel feel grateful to have had such a wonderful, close relationship with their dad, and their daily banters are what they will miss the most. Eddie treated Kara and Annaël like his own daughters, showing them love and acceptance at every opportunity, and offering gratitude for the devoted families they created with his sons. He was his grandchildren's biggest fan, forever cheering them on and letting them know that he believed that they were the best in each of their endeavors. He adored each of them and loved being a part of their lives. He will be terribly missed, and his legacy will continue in each of them.
A celebration will be held soon in honour of his life. Should family and friends desire, contributions may be made to the Frontline Fund (https://www.frontlinefund.ca/), which provides the much needed resources to our healthcare workers, including the ones who cared for Eddie, who are fighting against the COVID-19 pandemic on the frontlines every day.
