Elizabeth (Betty) Moore passed away peacefully in Dollard-des-Ormeaux, Quebec. Known as Miss Moore to countless students at Cedar Park Elementary School (1950-1985) in Pointe Claire, Quebec. She was Aunt Betty to her nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
Betty was proud of her Quebec and Canadian heritage; born in the Eastern Townships (Scotstown,QC) and raised in Drummondville (her father was a local engineer for Celanese). She lived her working years in Montreal, teaching for 35 years in the West Island. Betty was a proud alumnus of both McDonald College and Queen’s University.
Shortly before retiring, Betty built a cottage on Lac Megantic, Quebec (the Moore family settled here from Scotland). She spent many summers sharing the beauty of the area with friends and family. In the late 1990’s Betty started a new chapter in Brighton, Ontario. She made many new friends, attended St. Paul's church, and participated in bowling, curling and bocce ball.
Predeceased by her parents, Olon and Georgina Moore, her siblings, Olon (jr), John, and Marilyn, sister-in-law Mary and niece, Janet. Left to mourn are her sister-in-law Ruby Moore, her nieces Barbara (Paul), Beth (Steven), and her nephews Bruce (Celia), Andrew and Stephen (Kari). As well as family, friends, colleagues and former students.
Thank you to the staff of Sunrise Residence Dollard-des-Ormeaux, who assisted her with kindness during her 5 years of living there.
In lieu of flowers, a donation to The Ecomuseum Zoo (Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue) would be appreciated.
