With hearts full of love and gratitude, we celebrate the life of Inez Wedderburn Williams, affectionately known as "Miss Nez", who peacefully passed away on November 8, 2025, at the remarkable age of 106.
Born on September 3, 1919, and raised in the vibrant community of Sheffield, Westmoreland, Jamaica, Inez was the cherished daughter of Wilford and Eliza Wedderburn, as well as the last surviving of their nine children. When she made Montreal, Quebec, Canada, her home in the 1970s, Inez became a beloved and active member of the Westmount Seventh-day Adventist Church, where her faith flourished and her spirit touched many.
Inez's life was a testament to her deep devotion to God, spending countless hours in study and reflection of the Bible, even into her final days. Her voice, once a melodious addition to the church choir in Jamaica, continued to echo in family worship, bringing joy and unity to those around her. Equally known for her culinary skills, Inez delighted friends and family with her famous coconut drops and other sweet treats, often surprising them with these tokens of affection at church gatherings.
Inez's legacy is carried on by her beloved children: Ipha, Yvonne, Grace, Leonie, and Trevor. Her love extended beyond her immediate family to embrace her 20 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, and 11 great-great-grandchildren, along with countless others she welcomed into her heart and home.
The family wishes to extend a special thanks to all of Inez’s at-home caregivers over the years, as well as to the doctors and the nursing staff of 4 North at the Lakeshore General Hospital. In addition, we offer our heartfelt condolences to her family residing in Jamaica, England, New York, Toronto, Ottawa, the Cayman Islands, Florida, Australia, Maryland, Washington, Montreal, and beyond. In the spirit of Inez's cherished faith, may we draw solace from the words of Psalm 23:4, “Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.”
