When I came from Scotland to teach French at Elizabeth Ballantyne  School in Montreal, Ingrid was the Kindergarten teacher. Both being immigrants and European, we clicked and over the years, stayed in touch after I moved away.   She proved to be a very reliable and valuable friend, faithfully writing Christmas letters and sending lovely little gifts, some of which she made herself.  I have kept them all.  She would describe cheerfully the trips she had made, the world of nature she observed around her, and always sounded content with life.  Our meetings were rare but always anticipated and joyful.  She was a delightful and generous hostess  and I was so glad she came out to the East Coast and visited us some years ago.  I would call her now and again to check up on her and she was always happy to hear how life was treating us.  Sadly I was too late to have a chat with her this year.  My life was enriched by her friendship and her lovely, warm smile will always be with me.  I send my heartfelt condolences to her family who will miss her dearly.  And so will I.

Deepest sympathy to Wolfhard and the family on your beloved aunt's death. Ingrid was a special friend and colleague for more than 60 years. Her creativity and dedication as a teacher will be remembered not only by her peers but also by the children to whom she gave such a strong start to their educational path. My sons were lucky to be among those stdents. Ingrid's artistic talents were many. My family and I are so fortunate to have samples of her work as precious mementos. We will always remember with love, our dear "Miss Klein".
