I don't really know how to say everything I'm feeling, because writing this feels like I'm saying goodbye, which...I never really expected to have to do. Not so soon, anyways. You were a really great friend and a beautiful person, Jennifer Smith. You were always there for your friends. You were there for me when my grandmother died, when my dad died and there for all the good and bad in between and you did not deserve this. You're a beautiful, kind, nerdy (in a good way!) person who enjoyed sharing her knowledge with everyone. Any time there was somewhere I wanted to go and no one wanted to go with me, you always would. I have known you, sweet Jennifer, for a quarter of a year. But it seemed like we knew each other for many blue moons before that, even further back... You were the easiest to talk to at work, your presence lights up the day and your kindness heartfelt by countless others. I am forever grateful that our paths crossed as they did, I could never thank you enough for everything you did for me. My grandmother also left two days after your departure to rest in Our Father's eternal glory, and I can say without a doubt in my soul that He chooses His divine Angels wisely. Much the same as a few others who have already written, I met Jennifer under the internet handle "Kai" a little over 10 years ago. She was a very dear and integral member of our friend group from the very start, and though we've had little contact over the past couple years, I count her as a very dear friend. There were about a dozen of us active in this community, and as I reflect on all the wonderful memories we shared with Kai, I am astounded by how incredibly kind, encouraging, and creative she never ceased to be. The fact that many of us who haven't spoken to each other in years are connecting with each other again to talk about her shows how incredible of an impact she had on whomever she interacted with. 

Her tenderness and charm helped her fit in right away in our already close-knit group, and she was quickly as much a part of the site as any of us. She was always positive, always friendly, and always had a kind word to say whenever someone was down. If somebody had a bad day, you could always count on Kai to cheer you up. I will always treasure the times we had, the laughs we shared, and the wonderfully dorky stories we all wrote together. It may have been a small website, and the stories rather silly, but it was big personalities like Kai's that made it feel not so small, and kindness like hers that made it feel not so silly.

My thoughts and prayers are with her family and close friends. Thoughts that you must know even better than us what a warmth Jennifer was to everyone she was around. Prayers that God will show you comfort in this horrible time through His divine peace, as well as through the kind words and gestures of others who will mourn with you and hold you up. It is my sincere hope that we have not spoken with her for the last time, but will meet again.

I first met Jennifer many years ago on a Digimon Role Playing forum. She was known there as Kai, and she became one of the shining lights of our tight-knit group. I have encountered few others online who were as kind, loving, and fun as she was. Not only was she amazing at role playing, but she was fun to chat with about everyday things as well. I felt a special kinship with her since we were of similar ages and interests. I believe where we clicked the most was through Pokemon, and we've traded both Pokemon and serial codes over the years. 

Fast forward a few years, and we connected through Facebook. I enjoyed every post she shared of her interests, the conventions she'd been to, and her clear love and devotion to her family, friends, and adorable pets. I had hoped to meet her in person one day to trade stories, talk about games, and geek out in general. 

I send my deepest condolences to all of Jennifer's friends and family in this trying time. She has touched many lives, including my own. My prayers are with you all.

Jenn, words cannot properly express how awful it is that you are gone. Without you, there is a giant hole in the Montreal Pokemon League, and in all of our hearts.

You were like a big sister to all of us (even those of us older than you) ever since you became part of the crazy MPL family. Your dedication and love for our little gaming community was immeasurable, and I honestly couldn't have run most of the events of this last year without you backing me up.

It pains me beyond belief that I was too sick to attend our Christmas party this year and missed out on one last hug from you. I've only known you for a handful of years, but in those years, you have shown me what a genuinely kind person can do for the people they care about. You were selfless in helping the Montreal Pokemon League. You were a model employee at Warner Brothers Montreal. You offered your help for Dando Cup without a second thought. You never asked for anything in return. It pains me to come to terms that I'll never be able to pay you back for all of the kindness you have shown me and the members of our community.

You were gone too soon Jenn, the world is at a loss without your cheerful personality. We will love you and honor you forever. We will spread the kindness forward on your behalf.

My heart goes out to Anthony and her family in this trying time.

On the morning of Jan 11th, we all lost a very dear friend. Jennifer Smith. I will truly miss ur smile and our little convos. I didn't know you for long, but I do know that you touched every life of every person you had ever met in a profound way. I will miss u helping me sort cards, and put orders together on busy days. I will miss you schooling me on Pokemon characters and rules and video game tips, and which cards are better/stronger and why. You will be truly missed by every single person who ever met you. Thank you so much for being the person that you were, for being a part of all our lives. Thank you Jennifer Smith.

I like many in your life never thought the time for goodbye would have come so soon. The times Kayla and I spent with you and Anthony may have been short, but were memorable and something I looked forward to every year at Anime North & Otakuthon. The love you both shared of toku re-ignited my own passion for the franchise and helped Kayla join the fold as well. For that I thank you, you were an inspiration.

To your family, I give my deepest condolences. Jennifer was a wonderful person to be around. Her presence will be missed.

On January 11, 2017 around 5:30AM, there was an accident at the corner of Jean-Talon and Decarie. Then someone was gone. That person was Jennifer Smith.

I work just around this corner and pass by it every day. Now, not a day will go by when I will not think of her. She was taken from this world at the young age of 25.

I ask myself a lot of questions, but what I end up telling myself is how happy she always seemed when I saw her, how her kindness spread even more joy, and how young at heart she was.

I met her at my very first Otakuthon! I was alone and we instantly became friends. I remember it like it was yesterday...

Time is a strange thing. The world lost a good person; and although I don't believe in an afterlife, I hope we can meet again sometime...

Condolences to her parents Eric and Darlene, her boyfriend Anthony, her family, friends, and her pets.

She will be greatly missed.

Still hard to believe. She was truly one of a kind and a blessing to anyone who is into the hobbies that we are. Funny, helpful, knowledgeable and most important, just a damn good human being.

I will remember you for far more than just Pokemon! I will greatly miss reading your posts on facebook, they were always inspirational. I will also never forget that time at TKL where you save by butt by reminding me live privately through facebook the name of the person I was talking to (I had forgotten).

Most of all, I will remember you as someone who always cared about me and my interests. Whenever I posted about anime that you knew about, it was nice to hear what you had to say. I am so very grateful for you sharing me all the Madoka things you found that reminded you of me. I am also very grateful for you not biting my head off for ruining the ending of Rebellion unknowingly.

Those memories may be considered small things to other people, but never forget that small things can make a big difference in other peoples lives. You will be greatly missed by me, and by many others. It is sad I didn't get to spend more time to with you face to face, but you did have an impact on me. May you rest in Peace.

Always considered our five nieces would be an everlasting collective as we held them tucked away in our heart year after year. Hard to conceive that we lost one, far too soon. Will need to hold onto Jennifer just a little tighter as she is further away looking down on us. Love & miss you takes on a whole different meaning but that is just what I will do. xoxo
