1933 - 2017
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Julian Huxham at the age of 84 surrounded by his family. Beloved partner for 33 years of Renée Chevrefils and previous husband of Maureen (née Redfern). He will be dearly missed by his 4 devoted sons; Darrell (Amanda), Howard (Idem), Warren (Patty), Kevin (Karen) and his 10 grandchildren; Alexandra, James, David, Kalen, Maya, Tandia, Jennifer, Kate, Saedie and Ethan. Julian also leaves behind his sisters Lorna, Shirley and brothers David and Owen and numerous nieces and nephews. Julian, born in Grahamstown, South Africa, came to North America on a great adventure in 1957 after graduating from Witwatersrand University in Civil Engineering. He found love and rewarding employment and decided to make his life in Canada. After a few years in Vancouver, he decided to settle down in Montreal, marry and start a family. Julian was an Engineer with Monenco and Canatom for over 35 years, which led him and his family on extended overseas work assignments in India, Brazil and Pakistan. He was an avid golfer throughout his life and a long-time member of The Beaconsfield Golf Club for over 40 years. He passed this passion of golf down to his sons and grandchildren. Julian was an enormous sports fan and enjoyed playing tennis, curling, skiing and also played classical piano for much of his life. Julian never forgot his South African roots, always proudly cheering for athletes from his native country. He still held onto some of his accent even after 60 years in Canada. Julian will always be remembered as a loving father that cherished family above all else and will be sorely missed by his family and friends. We wish to thank the staff at The Lakeshore General Hospital and the Vivalis Residence for their care of him over the last few years. The family will receive condolences on Thursday, August 24, 2017 from 7-9 p.m. and Friday August 25, 2017 from 1-2 p.m. Funeral Service from 2-3 p.m. at the Collins Clarke MacGillivray Funeral Home. Donations in his memory may be made to The Lakeshore General Hospital Foundation.
