It is with deep love and gratitude that we announce the passing of Margo Juanita Hinds, who departed this life on October 30, 2025, at the age of 81, in Kirkland, Quebec.
Born on March 16, 1944, in Christchurch, Barbados, Margo was the beloved daughter of Violet Chase and Winston Hinds. From her earliest days, she carried with her an unwavering spirit of purpose and determination. She lived by a simple but powerful belief, one she repeated often and instilled in those around her: “You can do anything you set your mind to.”
After graduating from Lynch’s Secondary School, Margo pursued her nursing studies in England and became a Registered Nurse. She began her career at Lewisham General Hospital and Maidenhead Hospital in the UK, where she built a strong foundation in patient care and clinical excellence.
Upon arrival in Montreal, Canada, she served with distinction at the Royal Victoria Hospital, Lakeshore General Hospital, and the Jewish General Hospital. Margo worked as an Operating Room Nurse, taught nursing students, and was honored for over 20 years of outstanding service at the Jewish General. Her commitment to excellence left a lasting impact on both her colleagues and the generations of nurses she mentored.
But Margo’s legacy extended far beyond hospital walls. She was a tireless worker who believed in creating opportunity not only for herself, but for everyone around her. Her home was a refuge for those in transition, and her arms were always open to family, friends, and even acquaintances navigating difficult seasons. She quietly built a network of support that many relied on — connecting those in need with doctors, lawyers, housing, and guidance. Whether through offering a place to stay or advocating for someone behind the scenes, she found ways to lift others up. In every corner of her community, her impact is felt.
Margo will be remembered for her loyalty, generosity, and resilience. She was a provider, a listener, and a problem-solver. She believed deeply in the power of education and never hesitated to invest in others’ potential. She was known for her exceptional cooking, her quick wit, and her remarkable ability to help people find a way forward when life seemed stuck.
She is survived by her sons Jason Miller (Stephanie Kozub) and Matthew Miller (Elodie Sicot), her brother Arliegh Hinds, her sister Jeanette Pilgrim, and her grandson, Michael Miller. She is also lovingly remembered by a soon-to-be-born granddaughter, who will grow up surrounded by stories of her grandmother’s strength, kindness, dedication and love.
Margo’s life was defined by conviction, compassion, and quiet leadership. She showed what was possible when you work hard, care deeply, and give more than you take.
Flower delivery can be made on Thursday, November 13, 2025 after 2pm.
