It is with heavy hearts that the family announces the passing of Marilyn Johnson (nee Chenette) on Tuesday, August 26th, 2025, at 92 years young. She was predeceased by her parents James Chenette and Gert Clater, as well as her beloved husband David and chosen sister, Noreen Angus. She will be dearly missed by her nieces and nephews: Peter Turner (Gussy), Tim Turner (Barbara), Martha Turner (Larry Peebles), Greg Arns (Yvonne) and Penny Arns (Diane). Cherished lifelong friends Eileena Murphy and Debbie Bartzakos will also deeply miss her companionship and sharp wit.
During their early working years, Marilyn & Dave enjoyed city living and hosted epic cocktail parties at their Queen Mary apartment. After retiring, she was able to enjoy gardening, AquaFitness and throwing more music-filled dinner parties at their Glendale Avenue home, where Marilyn’s martinis were legendary!
Always able to find humour in things, she would regale friends with tales of her and Dave’s travels abroad. Marilyn loved gardening, animals and was a voracious reader. She had a special knack for making friends and building a community around her.
Marilyn’s final years were spent at Manoir Beaconsfield where she was surrounded by the love and care of an amazing team. She was also supported by ‘her people’: Ingrid, Barry, Elle, Micheline, Judy and many other kind hearts.
Visitation will take place at The Church of Saint John the Baptist, 233 Sainte-Claire Av, Pointe-Claire, on Friday, September 5, 2025 from 9:30am followed by a Funeral Service at 11am.
