

CAMERON, Ronald James On Thursday, May 21, 2015 at Lakeshore Hospital. Beloved husband of Carol (nee Alexander). Devoted father to Donna (Sylvain). Predeceased by his son Robert and his three brothers William, Kenneth (Eileen) and Donald. Loving grandfather to Matthew, Alexander, Justine and Holly. He will be sadly missed by his nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Born in Montreal in 1934, Ron grew up in Park Extension. In his teenage years, he began to excel at baseball pitching for the Outremont Beavers and the Park Extension Junior teams before being scouted at a tryout at Delorimier Stadium. At 19 years old, he signed a contract with the Brooklyn Dodgers where he pitched for their Hornell team for one year and was invited to Spring training in Vero Beach, Florida. In 1960, he met Carol, and they married in 1962, moving to his beloved Pointe-Claire that same year. He raised his family there in the 70 and 80s and moonlighted playing piano at Peter's Restaurant in the Pointe-Claire village. He and Carol enjoyed 10 glorious Winters in Hallendale Beach, Florida escaping the snow in the early 2000s upon retirement. Later in life, he enjoyed his grandchildren and loved attending their sporting events. Visitation on Sunday, May 24, 2015 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral Service will be held on Monday, May 25, 2015 at 11 a.m. at St. John Fisher Parish, 120 Summerhill Ave, Pointe Claire. -
