

Barbara S. Bohinek, age 77, passed away peacefully on May 21, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family. Born on August 9, 1948, in Brooklyn, Barbara was the cherished daughter of Patsy and Emma Diorio.
Barbara received her education through the New York City Public Schools. She carried the strong values of family, hard work, and compassion with her throughout her life.
In 1965, Barbara met Joseph Bonanno. Their love grew into marriage, and together they raised three children: Gina, Jennifer, and Michael. Later in life, Barbara met Kenny, and in 1984 she relocated to Boca Raton, where she continued building a life centered around family and love.
Barbara dedicated 17 years of loyal service to BankAtlantic before semi-retiring. Not one to stay idle, she later worked for Publix, where she remained until her retirement.
Barbara was an extraordinary mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her family was the center of her world, and she treasured every moment spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She loved cooking meals for her family, shopping, enjoying her coffee, and creating memories with those she loved most. Her warmth, generosity, and sense of humor will forever be remembered by all who knew her.
Barbara leaves behind to cherish her memory her loving sister, Marie Diorio Campo; her daughter Gina Bonanno; her daughter Jennifer Bonanno and son-in-law Ervin Zanders; and her son Michael Bonanno.
She was a proud and loving grandmother to Anthony L. Zanders Sr. (Geneva Zanders), Nicole Folks (Hunter Folks), Alexis Zanders, Kristen Trexler, Janae Zanders, Elena Bonanno, Michael Zanders, Brooklyn Bonanno, Michael Bonanno Jr., Rayne Bonanno, and Isabella Bonanno, along with 12 beloved grandchildren in total.
Barbara was also blessed with six great-grandchildren: Alaya Rainey, Anthony L. Zanders Jr., Justice Dalva Zanders, Greyson Zanders, Zy’riayh Dalva Zanders and Keevareon Turner Jr.
Barbara’s beautiful spirit, unconditional love, and devotion to her family will live on forever in the hearts of those who loved her. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered always.
