Barbara D. Hooper, 83, died on Nov. 11, 2020 at North Broward Hospital. She was born in Richmond, Kentucky on Aug. 11, 1937, the daughter of Walter and Elva Reams. Her father was a farmer and truck driver. Her mother raised nine children and was a school cook.
Barbara graduated from Madison High School and worked at IBM. She then married a local radio personality, Ramon (Ray) Hooper-deceased 2001. She had five children: Ramon Andrew Hooper/Kammi, Cheri Ellen VanMeter/Bill-deceased, Bridgett Belle Girwarr/Suren, Rusty Reid Hooper/Machelle and Dean Alan Hooper. She often expressed her love for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren by preparing delicious feasts for family get-togethers. She was an amazing seamstress who made her children’s clothes and magical Christmas Elves.
A service of remembrance will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, Nov. 17, 2020 at Kraeer Funeral Home at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens, 200 West Copans Road, Pompano Beach, FL 33064. Those who wish to remember Barbara in a special way can donate to:
