She immigrated to the United States with her family at the age of 16 on May 3, 1968. She lived in New York City where she married Pablo Edel Blanco on April 22, 1972. In 1973, she and Pablo settled down in Pompano Beach, Florida where they welcomed a son, Joshua, in 1975 and a daughter, Vivian, in 1978. Cruz was later blessed with two granddaughters, Lilia and Lucia.
Cruz was most of all a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend who always put others first. Her pride and joy was her family; she was its heart. She will be missed tremendously for her warm smile and kindness, and providing the comfort of home.
Cruz is survived by her loving husband, Pablo; children, Joshua (Monica) Blanco and Vivian Blanco; grandchildren, Lilia Blanco and Lucia Blanco; siblings, Adis (Enrique) Fernandez and Annie Escalona; nieces, Edith Escalona and Crystal Bave; and nephews, Jose Escalona and Gabriel Escalona. She is predeceased by her parents and her brother, Jose Escalona.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, October 21, 2021 from 5:00pm to 9:00pm and then again on Friday, October 22, 2021 from 9:00am to 10:00am. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Friday, October 22, 2021 at 10:00am, also at the funeral home, to be followed by entombment in the Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens, Tranquility Mausoleum. A reception will follow at the funeral home.
