Short Biography:
Eli was born to Efrain and Rafaela Arce’ on April 17, 1952, in New York City. He grew up in a house filled with love for family, love for God and love for others. As a child, he was known for being full of energy, humor and life. Eli enjoyed exploring, tinkering and playing pranks.
Through the loving example of his parents, Eli and his brother and sisters formed a very strong bond and closeness that will last a lifetime. While visiting his brother at Southeastern University, in 1972, Eli met Bishop Rick Thomas for the first time. In 1976, he moved to Florida to attend the same university. He spent the early part of his career building Channel 22, a Christian TV station in Clearwater, until he moved to South Florida in 1979 and became the TV Producer for Abundant Life Church.
Here he met the love of his life, Nance and they were married on August 5, 1983. They were blessed with two beautiful girls, Jessica Ruth in 1985 and Christina Anne in 1987 and a niece, who they loved like a daughter, Michelle Marie in 1981.
His immediate and extended family were deeply impacted by his individual attention, selfless nature, kindness and ability to make them laugh. Like his parents, who had the ability to make anyone feel like family, Eli opened his heart in the same manner to anyone in need. The number of people he touched in this manner is great and you know who you are. In his adult life, he was always involved in some type of church ministry.
He served in the couples, youth, music, singles, media and home group ministries. Eli spent 37 years as a dedicated servant of the Lord at Abundant Life Church. He had a special love for the people he worked with and the church community; that love was reciprocated by all. Eli gave counsel by listening, mentoring, encouraging and supporting everyone he met.
Despite chronic pain, multiple hospitalizations and surgeries and paralysis, his faith and ministry never wavered. Eli was a living disciple of Christ and that light shined through him, touching everyone he met and beyond.
Eli went home to be with the Lord on February 6, 2018, in Orlando, Florida. We know he has met Jesus face to face and is now dancing, singing and making jokes on the streets of gold; completely and totally healed in Heaven. Today we celebrate Eli’s life with joy and gladness. Now let’s honor him by carrying on his legacy.
In Eli’s words, “Live long and prosper”
“Well done my good and faithful servant” Luke 19:7
