As a twenty something kid at the time, I had no idea this man, Gary Lawrence, would have such an impact on my life and change me forever.  It was 1992 when I met Gary in Atlanta, GA.  I was an intern at Metro Traffic.  When he entered the room you immediately took notice, because he took notice of you. What a presence he had, as he acknowledged each and every one of us in the broadcast center.  He would walk around the room and place his hand on the back of every chair in the room and say hello.  Little did I know, this would become my practice later in my professional career.

Like many others, memorial words don't come easily.  Although it's not hard to imagine Gary has moved on to bigger and better things, it is hard to know he's not a phone call away.  I last spoke to Gary a few years ago.  He sounded great and high on life. Truth be told, I was calling to see if he could get me some Cuban cigars  I had  my first with Gary on a corporate cruise with David Saperstein!  During that call I heard the Gary I've always known.  As always, even though I spoke of frustrations and how things had change since he'd left the company, he encouraged me to work hard and push through.  Gary continued to coach and mentor me long after our career paths had separated.

Over the many years Gary and I worked together, he taught and mentored me without me realizing it was happening at the time. I was a twenty something brat that wanted it my way or no way at all. (that's still somewhat true) Many of the conversations we had (now 25+) years ago I reflect on still today.  One of my favorite conversations took place in 1996 when I was adamant I was mature enough to take on Miami as the Operations Manager.  Gary simply stopped me in my tracks and said, Christopher, sometimes the answer is just no..  He was right, but patience and a little time would find me back in Miami right next door to his office.  

To Amanda and Matt  you won't remember me.you were both way too young.  But I remember you both and the photos of you on his desk and his beaming smile when he spoke of either of you.  He was SO very proud of you both!  

Linda  wow what great times and at a time when things were a lot easier.  Peace be with you and your family.

To the entire Wasserman Family  my heart breaks for you and I wish you peace and send prayers to you all.  Gary had such a positive impact on so many people. Take great pride in your ancestry connection with Gary.  He was one of a kind!

Gary L. Wasserman impacted more people and more lives in such a positive way then even he could have ever known in his lifetime!  I'm blessed to this day as a result of the relationship I had with Gary.  He was more than a mentor, boss, life coach, General Manager and more  He was my friend.  

Gary  if they have computers or cell phones in Heaven, hit me up!  I love you, boss!

Wasserman Family - I'm struggling to find the words to truly convey my sorrow upon learning of Gary's passing. He was more to me than a manager, but became my mentor and friend. His love of family and life was inspiring and something we should all aspire to. He was quick with a laugh, smile, and kind word. I hope you find peace and strength at this difficult time.

To Gary's family - I offer my deepest sympathies.  I worked with Gary for many years and he was an absolute pleasure to be around.  Gary was a big sports fan, and I always looked forward to talking baseball with him.  And to hear stories from his long and colorful radio career was a delight.  He will be sorely missed.

Rest in peace Gary.  I think about you every time I have a cigar.  I enjoyed our time together at Metro Networks.

Linda, my heart breaks for you and your kids.  I feel privileged to have been with you through those wonderful years through the pregnancy and birth of your precious children, now incredible adults. Dear Linda and the Wasserman Family,
I wanted to express my heartfelt condolences for your loss of Gary. I always respected him as a professional and a gentleman in the radio business. Our careers paralleled each other in many ways as we rose through the ranks but at different stations. So it was a shock when I heard of Gary's passing and it was a reminder of the fragility of life. I hope you all can find peace at this sad time and comfort in your memories of a good man.
