John P. Sylvia, 86, of Lighthouse Point passed away Saturday, February 18, 2012. John was born on January 23, 1926 in Hyannis, MA, the youngest of 10 children of Frank & Mary Sylvia. He was raised in Falmouth, MA and graduated from Falmouth High School. John served his country for 2 years with the US Army and again with the US Coast Guard for 4 years. A longtime Florida resident, John retired from AT&T in 1981 after 26 years of service. John loved to travel and tend to his garden. Surviving John is his loving wife of 61 years Mary Lou Sylvia (Christen), a nephew Jerry Sylvia and several Nieces and Nephews. Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, February 24, 2012 at First Presbyterian Church of Pompano Beach, 2331 N.E. 26th Avenue, Pompano Beach, FL, Florida 33062, where John was a longtime member.
