

Julia is survived by her daughters Carmen Soto and Elizabeth Lopez, both located in Mirarmar, FL. She is preceded in death by her husband: Benjamin Roman Lopez; her siblings: Romana “Monchita” Rosado Santiago, Dolores “Lola” Rosado Santiago, Aurelio “Yeyo” Rosado Nieves, and Ignacia “Nachita” Rosado Nieves; her Children: Aladino Roman, Santos Roman, Teresita Roman and her parents: Jose Abas Rosado-Ocasio and Herminia Santiago-Rodriguez.
Julia was born on April 16th, 1923, in Camuy, PR to Jose Abas Rosado-Ocasio and Herminia Santiago Rodriguez. She had a 4th grade education. She married Benjamin Roman Lopez in 1944. After becoming a widow, she made and sold moonshine, worked at a school cafeteria, and cooked meals for construction workers to support her children. She came to the US and moved to Aurora, IL in 1968. There she worked for over 18 years at the Aurora Woman’s Coat Company where she worked as a coat steamer.
Because she never remarried the focus of her life was to spend as much time as possible with her children, grandchildren, and other family. She was a doting grandmother to 12 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren who referred to her as Abuela, Mama Julia, Bula, and Bisi. She was also a loving aunt and godmother. She moved to Miramar, FL in 2017 where she lived until her passing.
Visitation is scheduled for Wednesday, July 26th at Kraeer Funeral Home 1199 NE Sample Road, Pompano Beach, FL 33064 , Pompano Beach, FL from 5:00pm – 8:00pm with the memorial service starting at 6:00pm. The funeral is scheduled for Thursday at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens Central 499 NW 27th Ave Fort Lauderdale, FL at 11:00am. All are welcome to attend and celebrate. The family would like to thank the staff of Hospice of Palm Beach / Trustbridge for their care of our beloved Julia.
