‘’On Wednesday 22nd June 2016, when I received the call that (Kemisha Williams) was called upon by our Father to join him in Heaven, the first thoughts that came to mind were; that they had to be mistaken, no way could this be true and if it is then the world has truly lost another angel.
Not only was Kimmy a light to her family, she was a born leader in everything she did. They say that you only realize the good things about a person when they go; and in this case that day really made me reflect the impact that she had on my life as well as those who were lucky enough to have her presence grace their lives. She was a beacon of light to everyone, and she truly knew how to light a room. In her personal life, she was a sister figure to all she met; it was difficult not to love her the moment you met her. Many of us can only hope to have an impact the way she did to all of our lives.” – Aunty Carol
Kemisha Williams (Kimmy) was born on 29th October 1989 to proud parents Patricia and Winston Williams (affectionately called Princess and Tony). She was the fifth girl of seven children.
Kemisha attended the Enfield Primary and Junior High School – 1994 – 2000. She attained her Grade Six Achievement Test (GSAT) and then moved on to the Annotto Bay High School – 2000 – 2005 where she successfully gained 5 subjects. Kimmy did not stop there; she completed another year in Kingston at the Camperdown High School where she also achieved an additional 2 subjects.
Kimmy had big dreams and so she immigrated to Florida in 2007 in search of an ambitious dream. Kimmy attended – Academic High School – Florida. She worked at Giovanni’s Pizzeria, Golden Crust and Olive Garden.
She adored her family; she wanted the best for them. Her dad was her idol and she treasured her mother, 4 sisters and 2 brothers.
Her sisters echoed ‘’Kimmy made everyone laugh; she was just fun to be around. She thought she could dance and enjoyed entertaining them with her version of the butterfly (a type of dance) but she just couldn’t get it right and would laugh her heart out’’. She enjoyed the company of her aunts, uncles and cousins whenever they got together.
On Father’s Day she wrote that she wished she was home to cook her dad’s dinner. She lamented on how little attention was given to fathers on Father’s Day as opposed to the love and attention given to mothers on Mother’s Day. Kimmy was a Daddy’s girl and a mommy’s princess.
It’s cliché, but Kimmy was truly beautiful inside and out. You could feel her energy when she was near. She was 26, bubbly, outgoing, vivacious, funny, silly at times and just simply like no other. She was beautiful and intelligent; her sense of humour was remarkable. She wanted to try all things new and was not afraid. Kimmy enjoyed life and was eager to taste all that it offered. She was fun loving, easy going. She had a smile that lit any dark room. Her cheerfulness, her laughter these are the sign of someone who knew how to be happy. With Kimmy there was never a dull moment.
Kemisha; Kimmy as she is known to all has left a lasting memory in all who met and got to know her. The tributes left on her Face Book page spoke volumes for such a young person. Those who got to know her respected and treasured her friendship. ‘’Her life was a blessing, her memories a treasure’’ beautifully said by one of her dear friends.
Henry Scott Holland; a professor of divinity at Oxford University. His outlook on death is soothing. He said:
‘’Death is nothing at all; I have only slipped away into the next room. I am I, and you are you. Whatever we were to each other that we still are. Call me by my old familiar name; speak to me in the easy way you always used. Wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow.
Laugh as we always laughed at the little jokes we enjoyed together. Play, smile, think of me, and pray for me. Let my name be ever the household word that it always was. Let it be spoken without the ghost of a shadow on it. Life means all that it ever meant…There is absolutely unbroken continuity.
What is death but a negligible accident? Why should I be out of mind because I am out of sight?
I am waiting for you-for an interval-somewhere near just around the corner’’.
Her life will forever be treasured by all her loved ones.
I know Princess and Tony are very proud to have been the parents of this newly proclaimed angel of God.
Rest in Peace beautiful Kemisha Williams - Kimmy
