Michaelina Campione

Michaelina “Mickey” P. Campione – beloved mom, grandma, and great grandma, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, August 4, 2013, at the age of 90. Mickey was born to Alfred and Rose Interlicchio in Brooklyn, New York on October 29, 1922. She married Angelo, the love of her life, on June 30, 1946. A few years after their son Joseph was born, they moved to Rochester, New York. Rochester was the birthplace of their daughter, Kathleen, and their home – filled with family and friends -- for over 50 years. They permanently moved to Coconut Creek, Florida in 2009. Mickey and Angelo recently celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary at home with family and friends.

Mickey retired from Lawyers Cooperative Publishing Company in 1981 when Angelo retired from the US Postal Service. Their early retirement years were filled with travel to all parts of the world, swing dancing, and above all else, visiting their beloved grandchildren. Nothing brought bigger smiles to Mickey’s face than being with and talking about Lori, Chris, David and Jimmy. If there was a Grandparents Hall of Fame, undoubtedly Mickey would have been a member. In her final years, Mickey’s joy at being a grandparent was rivaled only by the smiles on her face when she was around her great-grandchildren Adam, Ellen, Joseph, Margaret, Nikolas, Bianca and James.

Along with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, she leaves behind her husband Angelo, son Joseph and his wife Krista, daughter Kathleen and her husband Anthony DelVecchio. She is also survived by her sisters Rosalie (Onorato), Connie (D’Alimonte), and Pam (Balsam) and brother Salvatore Interlicchio, and numerous nieces, nephews, and their families.

After a funeral Mass at St Ambrose Catholic Church in Deerfield Beach on August 7, 2013, Mickey will be laid to rest at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Rochester, New York.
