Richard Joseph Porraro

With heavy hearts, we bid farewell to our beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, Dr. Richard Joseph Porraro, who peacefully departed this life early in the morning on February 26, 2024, at the age of 87, leaving behind a legacy of service, dedication, and love.

Ric served as a dentist in the community for over 50 years and was known as “Doc” by many. Previously, Ric served honorably in the United States Navy and was a proud veteran.

Deeply rooted in his faith, Richard was a devoted member of St. Coleman Parish, where he served in many capacities, including heading the St. Coleman’s Italian Festival for 33 years. Ric served the community of Pompano Beach as a board member of Parks and Recreation, as well as the Chairman of the Golf Advisory Board.

“Doc” also found joy and fulfillment in his hobbies of golf and woodworking.

Richard is survived by his beloved wife Dorothy of 33 years; 9 children: Kathleen Rietmann (Peter), Lisa Rogers, Angus McCulloch (Katie), Ricky Porraro, Tricia Pugh (Bubba), Kristina Gerard (Paul), Teresa Kaplan, Gina Doyle (Jo-Jo), Melissa Watson (John); 24 grandchildren: Alexa Porraro, Montana Rogers (Petko), Joe Rogers, Lucy Patke, Siobhan McCulloch, Kaitlin McCulloch, Shane Pugh, Reef Rogers, Grace Patke, Grace McCulloch, George Patke, Lindsay Pugh, Colin Doyle, Carson Rietmann, Heather McCulloch, Jaden Doyle, Blake Pugh, Saxon Rietmann, Logan Doyle, Riley Watson, Abbey Watson, Joanna Kaplan, Laney Doyle, and Ella Kaplan; and his first great grandchild on the way. He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Joan, and their son, Adam.

As we mourn the loss of a dear friend, mentor, and leader, let us celebrate the extraordinary life of Richard, whose legacy of kindness, compassion, and service will continue to inspire us all. May his memory be a blessing, and may his spirit live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him.

Funeral services will be held at St. Coleman’s Parish, where family and friends will gather to honor and remember Ric.
