Bob Muir was born on 17 February, 1932 to Melanie and Villard Muir in New Bedford, MA. He graduated from St Anthony’s High School in New Bedford, MA. Bob joined the Navy in 1950 and served over 20 years retiring as a Chief Petty Officer. In 1953, he met his wife Alida Richard and they married in 1956. Upon retiring from the Navy, he moved to East Freetown, MA and joined his brother-in-law as a floor contractor. In 2002, Bob retired with Alida and moved to Pompano Beach, FL.
Bob was an active member of St John Neumann Catholic Church where he was awarded the Marian Medal for his dedicated service. He enjoyed bowling, pinochle, shuffle board, cribbage, acey deucey, and almost anything competitive. He was a dedicated husband, father, and Pepere. Bob loved spending time with his family and friends.
Bob leaves behind his wife Alida of 59 years and his three children and spouses: Marie and Ken Verderame, David and Harriet Muir, and Philip and Christina Muir. Bob has 4 grandchildren: Matthew, Jonathan, Nicole, and Kyle Muir. He is also survived by his brother Leonard Muir and sister Diane Gaudette and Pauline Jeffries who is deceased.
Bob and his smile will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
A Memorial Service will be held at St Gabriel’s Catholic Church in Pompano Beach, FL on May 7th at 1030 AM. He will be laid to rest at the South Florida National Cemetery in Lake Worth, FL. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to St Gabriel’s Catholic Church, 731 N Ocean Blvd, Pompano Beach, FL 33062 – indicate the “Guatemala Mission Fund.”
