

Thomas Edward (Tom) Keegan, 71, of Coral Springs, a devoted and loving husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on June 14, 2023, leaving behind a legacy of love, service and cherished memories. Tom was a man of integrity and kindness, always willing to lend a helping hand to support those in need. He had the knack to make everyone feel valued and loved, creating lasting connections wherever he went with his warm smile and constant encouragement.
Born September 19, 1951 in Teaneck, New Jersey, Tom attended Bergen Catholic High School in Oradell before graduating from the University of Dayton in 1973.
He spent his early career managing the Fin ’n Claw, his family’s restaurant in Lighthouse Point, followed by decades as an insurance fraud investigator for Travelers and Liberty Mutual.
His greatest source of pride was his loving marriage of 49 years to his devoted wife, Nancie. Their union was a shining example of love and an adventuring spirit.
Family meant everything to him. As a father, Tom poured his heart and soul into raising his two children, Christine and Scott. But his true calling began with the arrival of his two beloved granddaughters, Emma and Piper Hamrick. They brought him immense joy, and he was their greatest cheerleader and biggest fan.
Tom's passion for supporting veterans was unparalleled. He dedicated himself to helping those who had bravely served their country. Through his active participation in Honor Flights and the Veterans Coalition, Thomas made a tangible difference in the lives of veterans, ensuring that their sacrifices and contributions were acknowledged and honored.
Among his many accomplishments, Tom recently published his book, "Portraits of Patriots: Vietnam Veterans' Tales of Duty, Courage, and Honor." Through this work, he amplified the voices and stories of those who served during a challenging time in history.
Beyond his advocacy work, Tom possessed a remarkable skill and talent for woodworking. His creations were a reflection of his meticulous craftsmanship and unwavering attention to detail.
As a proud member of the Knights of Columbus, Tom embodied the values of faith, charity, and unity. He found camaraderie and a sense of purpose in his involvement with the organization, striving to make a positive impact on the lives of others.
Tom is survived by his wife Nancie, daughter Christine (Charley) Hamrick, granddaughters Emma and Piper Hamrick, brother Frank (Rosemary) Keegan, Jr., sister Eileen (Michael) Giglio, brother Robert Keegan and many nieces and nephews.
He is predeceased by his parents Francis J. Keegan, Sr. and Kathryn Keegan, his sister Maureen Hulbert, his brother William Keegan, and his son Scott Thomas Keegan.
A Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 22nd from 5 to 8 PM with prayer and testimonies from 7:30 to 8:00 PM at Kraeer Funeral Home & Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens, 200 West Copans Road, Pompano Beach, FL. A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, June 23rd at 11:00 AM. at Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church, 5980 N. University Drive, Parkland, FL. Cemetery Interment to follow the Mass at Kraeer Funeral Home & Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens, 200 West Copans Road, Pompano Beach, FL.
