Birdie Caples

Birdie Washington Caples, age 99, died Saturday, July 18, 2015 at Tupelo Nursing and Rehab. She was born December 30, 1915 to Benjamin Washington and Annie Biffle Washington. She later married James H. “Buck” Caples. She was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church and a homemaker. She enjoyed babysitting and sending time with her grandchildren.

Services will be at 2:00 PM Tuesday, July 21, 2015 at Browning Funeral Home Chapel in Pontotoc with Rev. Bob O’Neal officiating; burial will follow in the Ecru Cemetery. Browning Funeral Home in Pontotoc is in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include her two sons: Terry Caples and Diane of Shannon, MS and Bro. Jerry Caples and Rose of Ecru, MS; five grandchildren: Brad Caples and Jayme, Rodney Caples and Melanie, Jeff Caples and Sandra, Joe Caples and Kristi and Jeannie Fowler and Ronnie; eleven great-grandchildren and two great great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, and three sisters: Pearline Henderson, Mattie Brown and Odell Grubbs; three brothers: Thomas Washington, Winfred Washington and Jake Washington, and a great-grandson: Spence Fowler.

Pallbearers will be: Brad Caples, Rodney Caples, Jeff Caples, Joseph Caples, Stuart Caples, Cole Caples and Ronnie Fowler.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 PM Monday and from 1 to 2 PM Tuesday at the funeral home.
