

Callie Elizabeth Boland Young, age 98, completed her race and walked into the presence of the Lord, on Wednesday, January 8, 2014. She was born in Texas, to Charlie Bethel Boland and Bessie Lee Wilder Boland, but spent the majority of her life in Pontotoc County. She and Billy Young were married in 1935 in Pontotoc County where they raised their four children. She was the author of multiple books, articles, and publications. For 25 years she owned and operated Kallie’s Kiddie Kollege, a local private preschool and kindergarten. She served for many years as the Preschool Coordinator/Director at First Baptist Church of Pontotoc. She was also very involved in WMU and the History Committee. She was an active member of the Pontotoc Historical Society and the Pontotoc Woman’s Club.
Services will be at 2 PM Saturday, January 11, 2014 at First Baptist Church in Pontotoc with her 5 grandsons and Dr.Ken Hester officiating; burial will follow in the Zion Cemetery. Browning Funeral Home in Pontotoc is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include her children: Larry Young (Bobbie) of Pontotoc, Jerry Young of Tupelo, Kathy Talley (Rick) of Memphis, TN, and Wanda Waldrop (Drew) of Pontotoc; one brother: Wylie Newman Boland of Pontotoc; eleven grandchildren: Randy Young (Belinda), Ricky Young (Lori), Ronny Young (Tami), Amy Young, Brandy Rogers (Jerry), Tiffany Young, Robert Grisham (Mandy), Jessica Nichols (Norman), Rebecca Eaton, William Waldrop and Katherine Covey (Jonathan); eighteen great-grandchildren: Heather Young, Jay Young, Nathan Young (Kelsey), Nicholas Young (Hannah), Madison Young, McKenzie Young, Kyle Young, Kara Young, Nichole Young, Kiana Rogers, Tyra Rogers, Tyree Young, Adam Grisham, Micah Grisham, Ella Kate Nichols, Emma Klaire Nichols, Kadence Covey and Kylar Covey; and one great-great grandson: John Asher Young.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, siblings Elva McClesky, Erin Ray, Noel Boland, Leroy Boland, Cecil Boland and C.B. Boland and a great grandson: James Young.
Pallbearers will be: Jay Young, Nathan Young, Nicholas Young, Jonathan Covey, Norman Nichols and Wally Henry.
The visitation will be at the First Baptist Church fellowship hall on Friday, January 10, 2014 from 5 to 8 PM and on Saturday, January 11, 2014 from 1 to 2 PM in the Sanctuary at the First Baptist Church .
