

Evangeline was born May 18, 1926, in Pontotoc, MS to Oscar Grant and Earl Conlee. She attended school in Pontotoc and was a member of the Class of 1944. She married Dudley Winter during WWII on October 2, 1943. They were married for over 51 years and joyfully celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on October 10, 1993, with their three boys, their families, relatives and friends. Evangeline was a member of the First Baptist Church in Pontotoc.
Known for her beauty and love of fashion, Evangeline appreciated all beauty of each new day and sharing it with family and friends. She loved the beauty of being a wife, mother and homemaker. She delighted in the beauty of nature; working in her vegetable garden, admiring her colorful flowers, and watching the approaching sunset. She embraced life with her hobbies, walking, gardening, cooking, shopping and traveling. She especially cherished the memories shared with family at holidays, graduations, marriages and births.
Survivors to forever remember her love of beauty are her sons: Ronnie Winter (Sherrie) of Pontotoc, MS, Don Winter (Mary Jane) of French Camp, MS and Marty Winter (Debbie) of Germantown, TN; Affectionately called “Ban” she leaves her grandchildren: Jennifer Wardlaw (Brad) of Madison, MS, Ron Winter (Emily) of Madison, MS, Chris Winter of Memphis, TN, Heather Corbett (Jay) of Lexington, TN, Anna Slagle (Richie) of Memphis, TN, Molly Wright (Josh) of Fayetteville, AR and Kate Winter of French Camp, MS; great-grandchildren are Win and Will Wardlaw of Madison, MS, Hudson Winter of Madison, MS, Emmy, Hadley and Talt Corbett of Lexington, TN, Johnny Slagle of Memphis, TN and Bo Wright of Fayetteville, AR; nieces Cherilyn Daniels Steadman of Pontotoc, MS and Merrillyn Alexander of Jackson, MS and many other nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind a special friend, Robert Pettigrew.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Ferrel Dean Daniels, and four brothers: Lade Thomas Conlee, Roland Conlee, O.G. Conlee and L.Q. Conlee.
A celebration of life will be at 2:0opm, Saturday, May 14, 2016 at Browning Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Ken Hester officiating and Bro. Randy Wood vocalist and musician. Burial will follow in Pontotoc City Cemetery. Browning Funeral Home in Pontotoc is in charge of the arrangements.
Pallbearers will be her sons: Ronnie, Don and Marty Winter, and her grandsons: Ron and Chris Winter and Brad Wardlaw.
Visitation will be from 11:00am to 2:00pm on Saturday at Browning Funeral Home in Pontotoc, MS.
