Geraldine Burchfield

Geraldine Burchfield, age 84, went to be with her Lord on Saturday, October 25, 2014 at North Delta Hospice and Palliative Care Center in Southaven, MS. She was born December 31, 1929 to Tom Montgomery and Valeria Warren Montgomery. She was a 1948 graduate of Hurricane High School, where she was the Class President. She worked at Stubbs Department store and at Montgomery Drugs Store in Pontotoc for many years. She enjoyed reading, gardening, spending time with her family and attending church.

Services will be at 2:00 PM Tuesday, October 28, 2014 at Hurricane Baptist Church with Rev. Doug Jones and Rev. Phillip Brock officiating; burial will follow in the Sand Springs Cemetery. Browning Funeral Home in Pontotoc is in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include her daughter: Nelda Burchfield Morgan of Hernando, MS; a son-in-law: James Brown of LA; two grandchildren: Emilee Morgan McClure (Greg) and Edward James Morgan; one great-granddaughter: Marilyn Gail McClure; three sisters-in-law: Polly Montgomery of Hurricane, MS, Martha Burchfield Lancaster of Loganville, GA and Clarice Benjamin Burchfield of Memphis, TN; a special friend and neighbor: Sallie Weeden and a special caregiver: Jessica Moore; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband: James Burchfield; a daughter: Rita Burchfield Brown; three sisters: Ora Hale, Ila Lancaster and Thelma Swords and four brothers: Brooks Montgomery, Troy Montgomery, Boyd Montgomery and Therman Montgomery.

Pallbearers will be: Dean Burchfield, Shane Montgomery, Billy Montgomery, Kent Montgomery, Bradley Montgomery, Bradley Montgomery, Buddy Montgomery, Zane Hale and Jackie Hale. Honorary Pallbearer will be Tranny Montgomery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 pm Monday at the funeral home and from 12:30 to 2 pm Tuesday at Hurricane Baptist Church.
