Gladys Lucille Russell

Gladys Walker Russell, age 100, died December 28, 2010 at Delmar Gardens Assisted Living in Acworth, GA. She was born September 2, 1910 to Otis F. and Irene Gardner Walker. She was a long time devoted member of Laodicea Primitive Baptist Church, a homemaker, a cafeteria worker at Thaxton High School, and an employee of Riveria shirt factory in Pontotoc, MS. She lived in Thaxton, MS all her life until her health necessitated her moving to GA to be with family.

Services will be at 11:00 AM Friday, December 31, 2010 at Laodicea Primitive Baptist Church with Elder Steve Weaver officiating, burial will follow in the Sand Springs Cemetery. Browning Funeral Home in Pontotoc is in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include her daughter, Devonia Remy (Larry) of Acworth, GA; four grandchildren: David (Stephanie) Remy of Chesapeake, VA, Steve (Diane) Remy of Woodstock, GA, Michelle (Marc) Richey of Simpsonville, SC and Jason Gallant of Little Rock, AR; great grandchildren: Jessica and Jordan Remy ,Neil Davis, Amanda (Mike) Moghaddam , Brandon Remy ,Britttany(Ben) Densmore, Thomas, Emily and Tracy Richey: one great great-grandson: Easton Densmore.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband: Grady Russell; her daughter: Marilyn Russell, and two sons, Larry and Ronnie Russell.

Pallbearers will be: David Remy, Steve Remy, Brandon Remy, Jordan Remy, Mike Moghaddam and Neil Davis.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8PM Thursday at the funeral home and from 10 to 11 AM Friday at Laodicea Primitive Baptist Church.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Laodicea Church fund or to the Laodicea Cemetery Fund, 175 Walker Road, Thaxton, MS 38871.
