

James Howard “Buddy” Crouch, age 82, passed away Tuesday, July 27, 2016 at NMMC in Tupelo. He was born May 22, 1934 to Bernard and Lena Glover Crouch. He graduated from Pontotoc High School and entered the U.S. Air Force in 1952. He married Sarah Warren on October 15, 1955 and they were blessed with two children. He served during the Korean and Vietnam War and retired on December 31, 1972 with the rank of Master Sargent. He then worked at the Pontotoc Post Office for 17 years, where he was the city carrier for many years. In 1992 he began a 24 year career as a funeral director at Browning Funeral Home in Pontotoc.
He was a member of Furrs Baptist where he served as a Deacon, the Men’s Sunday School Teacher and a member of the Primetimers. He was also a member of the Pontotoc American Legion Post 16 and the Toxish Hunting Club. He enjoyed playing softball, hunting and fishing.
A celebration of life service will be held at 2 PM Saturday, July 30, 2016 at Furrs Baptist Church with Rev. Dan Young and Rev. Steve Cohea officiating; burial will follow in the Pontotoc City Cemetery with Military Honors.
Survivors include his children: Sharon Crouch of Pontotoc, MS and Steve (Angie) Crouch of North Pole, AK., two grandchildren: Josh (Amanda) Graham and Abby (Micah) Butler, and three great-grandchildren: Abigail Graham, Hoyte and Lawson Butler.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bernard Crouch and Lena Glover Crouch, his wife, Sarah Lee Warren Crouch, his five sisters: Mildred Steele, Catherine Simmons, Mamie Ruth Harris, Bertha Faye Pannell and Bernice Hutchinson; and one brother, Charles B. Crouch.
Pallbearers will be: Mitchell Malone, Dusty Warren, Shannon Gunter, Scott Whitt, Carey McMullen, Jason Steele and Anthony Bradford. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Men’s Sunday School Class and the Deacons of Furrs Baptist Church.
