Ken Dorris, 58, passed away December 11, 2018, Memphis, TN after a brief illness. He was born January 28, 1960, to Max and Carolyn Edwards Dorris. He graduated from Bruce High School in 1978. He went on to both his bachelor’s and master’s degree from Mississippi State University.
He would often be found working, but also loved hunting, grilling, music and sports. He was fixture at Mississippi State University events for 30 years, making sure his girls loved the Bulldogs as much as he did. He was a devoted Daddy, Papaw, and friend. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Pontotoc. Services are under the direction of Browning Funeral Home.
A celebration of life service will be 11:00 A.M. Friday, December 14, 2018, at First Baptist Church in Pontotoc with Dr. Ken Hester officiating. Burial will be in Concord Baptist Church Cemetery.
He is survived by two daughters, Kay Ann Spears (Ben) of Watertown, MA and Katie Crenshaw (Jonathan) of Franklin, TN; two granddaughters, Edith Pearl Crenshaw and Linnie Ann Crenshaw; his parents, Max and Carolyn Dorris of Bruce; two brothers, Keith Dorris (Shelley) of French Camp and Brian Dorris (Tommie Lynn) of Bruce; and his nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Eva Ann Dorris, and his grandparents, Elmer and Maude Edwards and D.E. and Evelyn Dorris.
Pallbearers are Keith Dorris, Brian Dorris, Don Shumaker, Jeff Richards, Kurt Thompson, and Eddie Hodges.
Visitation will be Thursday from 4:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. and Friday from 10:00 A.M. until service time at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Eva Ann Beasley Dorris Scholarship Fund c/o CREATE Foundation or Pontotoc 4-H.
