

Walter Terry Donaldson, age 72, died Sunday, January 26, 2014 at NMMC in Tupelo. He was born to A.A. Donaldson and Frances Leach Donaldson on September 29, 1941 in Pontotoc County. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Pontotoc, where he was in the choir, a Lay Leader and served on many committees and councils. He was a 1959 graduate of Pontotoc High School, attended Wood Jr. College for one year and then graduated from the University of MS with a bachelor’s degree in Business. He had worked at Donaldson Hardware, Brookwood Furniture, served as Pontotoc County Chancery Clerk for 12 years and operated Terry’s Village Restaurant and Catering for many years. He was a member of several civic clubs, including the Pontotoc Athletic Boosters Club, where he had served as President. He enjoyed all high school sports, playing golf, spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was the voice of Pontotoc High School Football for over 40 years and broadcast the basketball games with Danny Walls for WSEL for many years.
Services will be at 11 AM Tuesday, January 28, 2014 at the Pontotoc First United Methodist Church with Rev. Milton Whatley and Rev. Kenneth Corley officiating and the eulogy will be delivered by Claude Jones; burial will follow in the Pontotoc Memorial Gardens. Browning Funeral Home in Pontotoc is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include his wife: Earline Beshiers Donaldson of Pontotoc, MS; one daughter: Cynthia Hanley of Memphis, TN; a son: Terry Lynn Donaldson (Cindy) of Pontotoc, MS; one sister: Brenda Horton (David) of Pontotoc, MS; a brother: Billy Donaldson (Martha Jo) of Pontotoc, MS; two grandchildren: Ethan Donaldson (Katie) of Pontotoc, MS and Madison Hanley of Memphis, TN; two great grandchildren: Rivers Donaldson and Rose Donaldson; and a sister-in-law: Gloria Prather of Atwood, TN.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his Father and Mother-In-Law: Mr. and Mrs. Earl Beshiers and a brother-in-law: Marshall Beshiers.
Pallbearers will be: Joey Donaldson, Steven Donaldson, Jonathan Horton, Chris Westmoreland, David Horton and Mark Warren. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Mack and Elaine Warren, Joan Custer and Jerry and Joann Bradley, Jimmy Roberts and the Class of 1959.
Visitation will be at the First United Methodist Church on Monday from 5 to 8 PM and on Tuesday from 9:30 am to 11:00 AM at the church.
