Totsy Kay Thompson

Totsy Kay Fitts Thompson, age 81, passed away at her residence on Thursday, February 8, 2024. She was born on July 7, 1942, to Otis and Vera Mae Rea Fitts. Totsy Kay was a foster parent for many years, as well as loving and taking care of many children who were not even her own (brothers, grandchildren, nieces and nephews) and treated them as if they were her own. She always took every opportunity to bring a child to church. She read her Bible every day. Totsy Kay loved her church family at Liberty Baptist Church, worshipping and singing together, as well as serving as church secretary and cleaning for many years.

Cooking, gardening, traveling, reading, telling ghost stories, taking care of beloved pets and watching crime documentaries with her family were many of her favorite things. She also enjoyed catching up daily with her beloved school friends. When she laughed we all laughed.

Services will be at 12:00 P.M., Sunday, February 11, 2024, at Liberty Baptist Church, with Rev. Scotty Bland officiating. Burial will follow in the Oak Forest Cemetery with a private family graveside service. Browning Funeral Home in Pontotoc is honored to assist the Thompson family with the arrangements.

Survivors include her daughter, Laura Ruth Thompson Rhoden (Bryan); two sons, David Clinton Thompson (Deanna) and Jeremy Patton (Dallas); four brothers, Dempsey Fitts (Barbara), Lynn Fitts (Shirley), Cecil Fitts (Martha) and Mark Fitts (Susan); and three grandchildren, Alayna DeVito (Jacob), Pierce Rhoden and Savannah Rhoden. She is also survived by two very dear friends Lora Mae and Sarah.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert Clinton Thompson; an infant daughter, Vera Kay Thompson and a sister, Geraldine “Jeri” Bull (Gil).

Pallbearers will be Colin Fitts, Jonathan Fitts, Phillip Fitts, Pierce Rhoden, Dale Wilmet, and Jacob DeVito.

Visitation will be from 10 A.M. until 12 P.M. Sunday February 11, 2024 at Liberty Baptist Church in Pontotoc, MS.
