Betty Jean Bridgers Smith

Funeral services will be at OAK HILL BAPTIST CHURCH, 589 Oak Hill Road, Poplarville on Friday, April 1, 2016 at 10:00 am. Rev. Shane Moore of Oak Hill Baptist Church; Rev. Harry Davis of Crane Creek Baptist Church and Rev. Ed King. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm, Thursday, March 31, 2016 at WHITE FUNERAL HOME POPLARVILLE and one hour prior to the service, Friday at the church.

Mrs. Smith was born October 23, 1926 in Jacksonville, Florida to Errol "E.R." Rainey Bridgers and Viola Malley Bridgers. She was a homemaker. She was a life long member of Oak Hill Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School, a Vacation Bible School teacher, a choir member, and numerous other activities in the church.

In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Harlon S. Smith; one sister, Kathleen "Keen" (the late William "Speedy" Lowe); one sister-in-law, Audrey Smith Bain( the late Douglass Bain); and, one brother-in-law, Harold Smith.

Family members include two children, Richard "Dicky" Smith, Susan Smith Hodge; one brother, Carol Bridgers (Margaret); four grandchildren, Annette Smith Davis (Harry), Julie Hodge Parrish (Paul), Christopher Hodge (Jennifer), Tiffany Hodge; six great grandchildren, Laken, Christian, Dalton, Coley, Raelynn, Addie; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family.

In Lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to The American Red Cross or Gideon's International.
