Beverly Ann Culpepper, age 78, of Poplarville, Mississippi entered into God's presence on Tuesday, January 16, 2024. Beverly Ann Culpepper, “MawMaw”, was an amazing lady to all that new her. A sweet soul, always dressed to perfection, and hair fixed to a “T”. She had a servant’s heart and loved ensuring that all felt welcomed in her home. One could always find biscuits in the oven, coffee in the pot, something frying on the stove, and let’s not forget the handmade desserts to top it off.
She enjoyed spending time with her loved ones. She didn’t need luxurious vacations, expensive items, or complicated plans. Simply sitting in the living room or on the front porch, sharing laughs and stories, made her heart full. Her living room was a special place with many great memories made, from a prayer room to a boxing ring. Her guests always felt as if they were leaving too soon when she would say “Aw, you ain’t already leavin’ are ya? Well, ya'll come back now, ya hear?”
She loved hard and worried often for her family. Rainy weather, late nights, busy weekends, and long-distance trips were sure to keep her up at night, worrying about those that were out and about. She knew that life was busy, but she also longed for it to slow back down, as it was when she was a child. She found great comfort in her Lord and Saviour. Her late-night prayers echo in my mind to this very day. I can still see her, knelt beside her bed in reverence. She truly lived and stood for what she believed. In her final days, when her mind was foggy, and her body was weak, she found enough strength to talk to the one she had served all her life. Proverbs 31:30-31 says that “a woman that feareth the Lord, shall be praised. Give her of the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise her in the gates.” It was comforting to see those who love her most, around her side and tending to her needs. She wouldn’t have wanted that, but it was good that the tables turned, and the caretaker was taken care of. She was respected, honored, and loved. She will be missed dearly, but may we never let her sweet, sweet precious memories die. The stories, laughs, Christmas skits, food and love will forever fill my heart. If I could hear it one more time, “I love you MawMaw”, “I love you too, baby”.
She is preceded in death by her parents, KC and Beulah Spiers; husband of 38 years, JC Culpepper; one daughter, Tracy Jackson; two sisters, Vivian Quave and Faye Lee and two brothers, Jim Spiers and Kenneth Spiers.
Left to forever cherish her memory is one son, Jeff Culpepper (Angie); one sister, Mary Snelgrove (Melvin); two grandchildren, Jonathon Culpepper (Rachael) and Janson Culpepper (Sara); six great grandchildren, Jaxton, Randon, Jett, Rylon, Claira Culpepper and Faith Penton; a host of nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to attend Beverly's visitation on Thursday, January 18, 2024 from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm at Burgetown Church of the Lord Jesus Christ, 314 Burgetown Road, Carriere, Mississippi. Beverly's funeral service will begin at 1:00 pm. Burial will follow at Burgetown Cemetery.
