

Carol Kay Nystrom Turlich, of Lumberton, Mississippi, passed away on Saturday, February 17, 2024 at age 79. She was born in Seattle, Washington, to Myrtle Wilger Nystrom Rowe and John August Nystrom. Carol grew up in California as one of five children. She was a member of the Homemakers Club in Lumberton. Carol loved plants and yard work, she also enjoyed watching hummingbirds feed.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Darby and Patricia Herring; two brothers, John Robert Nystrom, Sr. and James Rowe; three son- in-laws, Randall Matte, Brian King and Mark Deloach; two grandsons, Jason Matte and Johnathan Deloach; 10 brother-in-laws, Huey, Bertram, Fredrick "Ricky", Clark "C.J.", Herman "Sonny" and Noel Turlich, Cecil Guthrie, Paul Darby, Ronald Herring and Alwin Armstrong and one sister-in-law, Audrey Guthrie.
Carol is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Marion J. Turlich; four children, Kenneth A. Turlich, Christina Matte, Lisa Herrin (Rick) and Suzanne King; four grandchildren, Christopher Matte, Rochelle Deloach Ladner, Adam Turlich-King and Timothy King; four great-granddaughters, Alyssa, Peyton and Kendyl Matte and Terra Turlich-King; eight sister-in-laws, Freda Tinsley, Celina Armstrong, Joy Daviet, Bobbie Turlich, Nadine Turlich, Lucille Turlich, Patricia Turlich and Rita Nystrom; one brother-in-law, Donald Turlich; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family extends special thanks to Forrest General Hospice for care, support and friendship extended to Carol and family.
