Garland Andrew Stanford Sr.

Mr. Stanford was born February 14, 1937 in Pearl River County, Mississippi to Toxie Walter Stanford and Hezzie Mae Tynes Stanford. He was a retired Transportation Director with Pearl River Community College; a member of Serenity Baptist Church; and a veteran serving in the United States Air Force and the Mississippi Army National Guard. He married the former Meryl M. Moore on December 20, 1957 in Houma, Louisiana.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two sisters, Willa Jean Brinkman, Jerry Peters; and one brother, Doug Stanford.

Family members include his wife of 60 years, Meryl M. Stanford; five children, Dawn Stanford, Lori Reyer, Andy Stanford, Jr. (Jillian Porter), Sue Polk, Jodi Hatten (Jeff Illings); one sister, Susan S. Kite; five grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at WHITE FUNERAL HOME, 315 Highway 11 South, Poplarville, MS, 39470 on Thursday, January 4, 2018 at 2:00 pm. Rev. Clyde Cooper and Rev. Tom Hudnall will officiate the service. Burial with military honors will be in Serenity Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends and have visitation two hours prior to the service, Thursday at the funeral home.
