Ruth Bass Gill, 100, of Hattiesburg, Mississippi peacefully passed away at her home on Monday, March 31, 2025. Ruth was born in Poplarville, Mississippi on November 17, 1924 to Walter Carl Bass and Nellie Smith Bass. Ruth was a longtime resident of Poplarville. She graduated from Pearl River Community College, was a devoted wife and mother and a member of Hardy Street Baptist Church in Hattiesburg. She is preceded in death by her parents, Walter Carl Bass and Nellie Smith Bass; husband of 43 years, John B. Gill; son, John Thomas Gill along with her four brothers and four sisters. Left to forever cherish her memory are her children, Anne Kealhofer and Bryan (Sherry) Gill. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 5, 2025 at White Funeral Home of Poplarville beginning at Noon. Friends are invited to join the family from 10:00am until the service begins. A private burial will follow at Poplarville City Cemetery.
