Alexander "Sandy" Carson Demerse

Predeceased by his father (1973), Mother (1977), sisters Agnes (1927), Etta Bitcon (1994) and brother Peter Malcom (1999). Sandy is survived by his beloved wife Jessie (nee Reid); daughters: Darlene Wells (David) and Sandra Lori (Todd Graham); sons Howard Reid (Raelene) and George Melvin “Mac”; and stepson Gordon Robertson; sister Aileen Scott; brothers Doug (May)Demerse and Edwin (Noreen)Demerse as well as 15 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, cousins and many wonderful true friends and workmates.

Sandy attended Sardis Elementary, Chilliwack Jr. High and then graduated from Chilliwack Senior High School in 1954. Sandy joined the BC Forest Service Protection Branch (1956). After 9 years with BCFS he started with MacMillan Bloedel and worked as a Forest Engineer, Personnel Manager and a grade foreman. In 1992 he started in M&B’s public relations department where he remained until retiring in 2000. In 2002 Sandy along with his wife Jessie moved from Port Alberni to Qualicum Beach. He loved his family and the outdoors. Sandy was a member of the Somass Toastmasters, Alberni Valley Curling Club and Royal Canadian Legion, Branch #169.

A celebration of his life will be held starting at 11:00am at 5786 W. Island Highway, Qualicum Beach on Friday, August 22, 2014. Cremation has taken place.
