Survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Irene; children Veronica (Mike) Irg and Stephen (Kelsey) Jonasson; grandchildren Nicole (Matt), Matthew (Chelsey), Brooke and Carter; as well as extended family and many friends.
Born in Sweden, Hugo came to the valley with his father in 1958. He began working at APD in 1960 and worked there until his retirement in 1998. Hugo enjoyed providing for his family and helping people. His hobbies included fishing, hunting, and vegetable gardening. He volunteered as a Minor Softball coach and field scheduler, he was Recording Secretary for the IWA office and on the board of Pioneer Towers.
A Celebration of Hugo’s Life will be held 3:00pm until 5:00pm, Sunday, December 1, 2019 at the Italian Centre 4065 6th Avenue, Port Alberni, BC.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Ty Watson House, 2579 – 10th Ave, Port Alberni, BC., V9Y 2P5 or the Canadian Cancer Society, 3088 – 3rd Ave, Port Alberni, BC., V9Y 2A5.
