Carmela Cocco

Carmela passed away peacefully on January 7, 2026, at the age of 91.

Carmela was born in Montebello Vicentino, Italy, on November 16, 1934. She married Tony in 1963 and moved to Canada. Throughout her life Carmela was a devoted wife, mother and friend whose love and strength shaped the lives of those who knew her.

Carmela was predeceased by her husband, Antonio (Tony) in 1983, sisters Silvana Augusta (1969), Dina Teresa (1981), Maria Teresa (2012), Marisa (2021), her twin Pia (2024), and brother Angelo “Sandro” (2009).

She leaves behind her sons George (Tamara) and Angelo (Kimberly), and her brother Mario (Annalisa) and a large extended family in Italy.

Carmela often commented on how fortunate she was and how she felt loved by her family and friends; she liked like to tell people that she was “a lucky old lady”.

Carmela will be deeply missed by all who knew her. She had a caring nature, always putting others first; she also had a good sense of humour and an infectious laugh. Carmela’s spirit will live on in the hearts of her family and friends.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to the staff at Heritage Place for their compassionate care and support during Carmela’s final days.

The urn committal will be held at St. Peter’s Cemetery on Tuesday, February 24 at 11:00am.
