Colin Alexander McMeekin

He built a long and respected career in the logging industry, finishing his working years running a log loader at the dry sort. He was deeply grateful for a job so close to home, which allowed him to trade long daily commutes for more time with his family. A true outdoorsman at heart, he was happiest when he was out in nature. He loved golfing, hunting, and spending quiet time fishing down the canal. He also cherished his vibrant social life, always surrounded by an extensive group of close friends. His favorite memories were made at the cabin, where he delighted in taking the family out, bringing the kids to the lake, and pulling them on the tubes.

He was predeceased by his parents, Alex and Jannet McMeekin, and his younger brother, Kenneth McMeekin. His memory will be cherished by his daughters, Dané and Colby; his oldest sister, Donna Metz, her husband Gary, and their children Katie (Davor), Ian and Grey; his nieces Sabrina (Mike); Megan (Billy); and Jess (Mike); his ex-wife and mother of his children Laurie McMeekin; ex partner Laurie Payne and beloved dog Freckles. He will also be missed by an extensive group of close and lifelong friends.

A celebration of Colin’s life will be held at the Alberni Athletic Hall on Saturday, October 10th from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM
