It is with much sadness that we announce that Daniel E. Anderson; AKA "Danny" or “Boone”, passed away June 25, 2021, peacefully, at home, surrounded by his beloved family. He is survived by his wife, Eleanor, his children; Paula (Jeff), Maudie, Zachary (Lisa), Aimee, Annie, Millie (Jyoti), and Jeremy; his grandchildren; Sarah, Allison, Brody, Jolie, Jonah, Avery, Truen, Emarie, and Tayah; his remaining siblings; Elsie, Hugh (Vera), Hazel, Ted, Peter, Sharon, Cheryl-Marie (Cherie), Vicki, and numerous extended family members.
Dan was born in 1934 in Nelson, B.C, to Francis (Frank) and Elsie. He spent his younger years in and around Nelson and on his grandpa’s farm. In his early teens, the family moved to Port Alberni. During his young adult life, he worked at several of the mills in town, until he decided to become a heavy-duty mechanic. Dan completed his training for this in the early 1960’s. Dan worked in the forest industry, with MacMillan Bloedel, at their Sproat Lake Division shop for approximately 35 years.
Dan married his wife Eleanor, November 22, 1969, and raised seven children. He was a hardworking, strong, stern, but loving husband, father and grandfather. He knew what he believed, and he impressed it upon his children and grandchildren, wanting them to learn and follow his example.
Dan was a member of the Salvation Army Church. He was the youth pastor for several years and went to officers training college for two years, before his marriage. After coming home, he became the adult bible class teacher for many years. In his later years, he attended Southside Community Church of the Nazarene, and then First Baptist Church, until his passing.
He enjoyed being at home with his family, loved the mountains and being outdoors. Other things he took pleasure in; his grandchildren, old cars/trucks, working on his hobby farm, tractors, the sound of the bagpipes, bluegrass/country/gospel music and poetry.
A private Family service, where he was laid to rest, has been held. A memorial tea/open house, for those who wish to pay their respects and see the family, will be held at the First Baptist Church, 6211 Cherry Creek Road, from 1pm to 4pm on Saturday, July 10, 2021.
Instead of flowers, donations in his memory can be made to the following organizations: The Christian Jew Foundation, Samaritans Purse, or The Haven Ministries Association.
A special Thank you to Chapel of Memories, Pastor Cal, First Baptist Church, Dr. Kitshoff and his secretary Maureen, and the Home & Community Care Team that made his last months as comfortable as possible.
To Those Who Mourn (an excerpt)
For that is the real truth,
Man is a soul and has a body
The body is not the man; it is only
the clothing of the man.
What you call death is the laying aside
of a worn-out garment, and it is no more
the end of the man than it is the end of you
when you remove your coat.
Therefore you have not lost your friends;
you have only lost sight of the cloak
in which you were
accustomed to see him.
The cloak is gone, but the man who
wore it is not:
Surely it is the man that you love and not
the garment
