

It is with very heavy hearts we announce the passing of Edgar Lawrence Marshall July 6 2026 in Nanaimo Regional Hospital with his wife and daughters by his side. Ed was born February 23, 1949, in Middleton, Nova Scotia, he was the son of the late Lawrence Marshall and the late Ella Hubley.
Ed found joy in the simple things in life. He loved camping, gardening especially his well-known garlic and tending to his mason bees, a passion that once earned him a front page feature in the AV Times. He spent countless hours researching his family's genealogy tracing back his family's roots to the 1600s. Each spring he eagerly watched for the return of the swallows, carefully recording their arrival, the hatching of their young and their departure in his calendar. Ed also did some volunteering for the Fall Fair and the Mount Klitsa Garden Club. In recent years he enjoyed walks along the Harbour Quay.
Eddie as some people called him was known for kind heart and gentle spirit and will be dearly missed by many.
He is survived by his loving wife Margaret, daughters Jo-Ann deVries (Hector Aguiluz), Cheryl Currie (Brodie), grandson Jared and Gavin deVries.
Sisters Marg Morse, Ellen (Ernie) Caldwell, brother Phillip Parker, brother in law Peter Dunford. Numerous nieces and nephews. beside his parents he was also predeceased by son in law Gary deVries, sister Elaine Dunford, brother Stewart Marshall.
