Félix Gaudet, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and devoted Catholic, passed away peacefully on June 1, 2026, in Port Alberni at the age of 85, surrounded by the love of his family. He was born in Bellevue, Saskatchewan.
Félix was a loving and dedicated husband to his beloved wife, Ginette, with whom he shared more than 60 years of marriage. Together they built a beautiful life rooted in faith, family, and love. He was a proud and devoted father to his children, Lisa (Franco), Norman (Lyne), and Tina (George). Félix adored his grandchildren, Devon (Jordyn), Ryan, Aimee (Dylan), and Marco (Megan), as well as his step-grandchildren, Claudia, Quinton, Caleb, and Savannah, and his great-grandchildren, Paisley, Madelyn, Ava, and Erny. Family was the centre of his world, and he found great joy in watching each generation grow and flourish.
Born into a large French-Canadian family, Félix was one of thirteen children. Growing up alongside his brothers and sisters taught him the values of hard work, generosity, resilience, and the importance of family—qualities that remained with him throughout his life. Félix enjoyed his position as a steam engineer at the pulp mill in Port Alberni as it allowed for the opportunity to provide and support his family while creating deep and meaningful friendships. Known for his kind heart, gentle nature, and quiet strength, Félix touched many lives through his generosity, compassion, and willingness to help others. He showed his love through his steady presence, his devotion to family, and the example he set each day.
His Catholic faith was at the heart of his life. Following retirement, Félix devoted much of his time to the Knights of Columbus and his parish community, finding great purpose in serving others. Alongside Ginette, he also embraced opportunities for spiritual growth through pilgrimages to Medjugorje, Lourdes, and Vatican City; journeys that held great meaning for them both.
Predeceased by his beloved wife, Ginette, whom he deeply missed following her passing in 2024; his parents, Jacques and Elodie; and his siblings, Gabrielle, Ben, Firman, Guy, and Aubin. He is lovingly remembered by his surviving siblings, Aurele, Jocelyne, Solange, and Yvan, as well as extended family and friends who will forever hold his memory in their hearts.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the Alberni Valley Hospice Society and the exceptional staff at Ty Watson House for the compassionate care, dignity, and support they provided to Félix and his family.
Félix will be remembered for his unwavering faith, his devotion to family, his kindness, and his humble spirit. May he rest in eternal peace. It comforts us knowing that you and Mom are together - probably dancing!
