Jerry was born in Cumberland to Sonny and Mary Conn Maxwell. He attended school in Cumberland and his first job was at Inkster’s Saw Mill. In April 1958 he married Laurel Hamling; and in 1959 he went to work at Franklin River where he worked until his retirement. Jerry and Laurel lived in Port Alberni for 55 plus years.
Jerry was predeceased by his wife Laurel in 2007 and his brothers Bob and Doug Maxwell. He is survived by his sister Jessie Mazey (Bill); sisters-in-law Shirley Maxwell, Marie Miller (Tom), Debbie Maxwell and brother-in-law Dave Hamling (Gwen). Also Maxwell, Conn, and Somerville cousins, nephews and nieces.
The family would also like to thank Shirley Maxwell for the wonderful care she gave to Jerry over the last 5 years and special mention to Jerry’s longtime friends Keith and Peggy Adams.
A graveside service will take place at Alberni Valley Memorial Gardens, Port Alberni Highway, at 1:00pm on Friday, July 27, 2018 with a gathering of family and friends to be held at the Best Western Barclay Hotel, 4277 Stamp Avenue, Port Alberni, BC from 2:00 – 4:00pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jerry’s memory to the Kinsman Club or the BC Lung Association. Stories and condolences may be left for the family at www.chapelofmemories.ca
