Giovanni Battista Solda

Giovanni is predeceased by his daughter Lori and 5 of his siblings. He is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years Anna; children: Gianni (Cindy), Ivo (Patti), Susi (Boe), Rosa (Mark) and son-in-law Randy; grandchildren: Pietro, Carlo, Natasha, Kirsten, Vittoria, Sabrina, Santino, Carla, Maria, Taylor, Luke, Angelina, Kristin, Nikayla and Natalia, 10 great grandchildren as well as his sister Angelina in Italy and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

For Giovanni, family always came first. It was for a better life for his family that he came to Canada and eventually to Port Alberni in 1965. It was this same desire for a better life that caused him to start his restaurant in 1969 and grow it to the success it is. But even through running a business and a full time job, he still always made time for his kids and later his grandchildren became the center of his eye.

A memorial mass will be held at 10:00am on Tuesday, May 28, 2013 at Notre Dame Roman Catholic Church, 4731 Burke Rd, Port Alberni, BC with Father Stephen Paine officiating. A service of remembrance to honour Giovanni will be held at 12:30 pm on Tuesday, May 28, 2013 at Chapel of Memories Funeral Home, 4005-6th Avenue. Cremation has taken place.
