Guadalupe Muñoz Guenther

She is survived by her daughter, Linda Guenther (Jack), and son Rick Guenther; grandchildren, Erin, Charise, Tyler, Shae and numerous family members in Mexico. Lupe was a friend to many people and will be missed dearly by all.

Lupe was born in the city of Durango, Mexico. Lupe and Henry were married in 1957 in Mexico City and then came to Canada; their first home on the Queen Charlotte Islands (Haida Gwaii). After several moves on Vancouver Island, the family decided to make Port Alberni their home. Lupe had great joy in babysitting the neighbourhood children, teaching friends how to cook Mexican food, and knitting toques and scarves for all. She enjoyed volunteering at Echo Village Care Facility, helping with the activities and residents; as well as donating her time to the Salvation Army.

The family wishes to thank all the people who were instrumental in Lupe’s care, particularly the care nurses at the Kiwanis Pavillion in Victoria and Brentwood House. In lieu of flowers, in Lupe’s memory, please consider a donation to the Kiwanis Pavillion, 3034 Cedar Hill Road, Victoria, BC V8T 3J3 or to Brentwood House, 1167 Stelly’s Cross Road, Brentwood Bay, BC V8M 1H4. A private family service was held on Saturday, August 12, 2017.
