Ivan Bratosh

Ivan leaves behind his beloved wife of 71 years, Sally, who was his constant companion and very best friend. He was loving father to Alan (Kristine) Bratosh and Laurie (Andre) Henri. Ivan was also the cherished grandfather of Randean (Matt), Nicholas, Mackenzie, and Shannon as well as proud great-grandfather of Alex, Linkin and Levi.

Born in Slovenia in 1931, Ivan was the third youngest of twelve children. At the age of 20, he journeyed to Canada, first arriving in Quebec, then travelling west to Vancouver before settling in Port Alberni. It was there that he met the love of his life, Sally, and they married soon after her eighteenth birthday.

Ivan worked diligently at APD sawmill for 39 years and was known for his hard work and strong work ethic.

A kind and gentle man, Ivan found joy in tending his impressive garden, making wine, and spending time with family and friends. His greatest happiness came from being surrounded by those he loved. He especially enjoyed sitting outside on his swing at twilight, watching the birds, rabbits, squirrels and deer play in his yard - a peaceful reflection of the life he so deeply cherished. Ivan will be remembered always for his warmth, generosity, and the quiet strength that guided his family.

A Funeral Mass will be held at Notre Dame Roman Catholic Church, located at 4731 Burke Road, Port Alberni, British Columbia, V9Y 5P1. The service is scheduled for November 13, 2025, from 10:30 am to 11:30 am. Committal will follow at St. Peter's Catholic Cemetery, located at 6240 Moore Rd., Port Alberni.

A reception with snacks and refreshments will be held in the church hall following the service.
